Autodesk has done us the honor of a 2009 version only 6 months after the 2008 version. Why? Simply because the company wants to align the outputs of Max on those of its other products, an issue of stewardship. For this 2009 vintage, the star of the software firm is not alone, but accompanied by a so-called Design. The latter is dedicated to the visualization and implementation of architectural projects and design. Worry, you will not have to tear your hair (with the functions Hair, of course:)) to know which version to buy, the differences between the two offers is minimal. Objective beginners

Max 2009 seems to have at heart to look on the poor beginners in 3D. Firstly, we note the launch of the program of new films show more complete. But the will of accessibility does not stop there. Two new tools for visualization and navigation are introduced. A cube, first, now occupies the top right corner of each window. The function takes the appearance of a hard transparent, easy to use and which will allow any beginner to better manage its collection of books and s’y movement. Useful small gadget associated with the tool, a Rewind button to “rewind” your movements. It thus becomes easy to retrace his steps, in real time and in any view of the interface. Finally, a menu associated with the proposed tool, if you find the wheel too intrusive, other smaller versions and adapted to certain types of manipulation.

Two tools for beginners welcome.

Since we are talking about navigation in the scene, a new panel devoted to this work made its appearance. Select a camera and a curve, and an animation is created immediately by using these two elements! Scene Explorer

The crawler stage has been completely redesigned for the power and efficiency. A new filter can create selection criteria based on the name of the elements, but also the color or type of display objects. You can open windows of exploration, in which you choose or not to use the filter. It becomes easier to manage complex scenes.

Modeling

Few new things about modeling. There is mainly the appearance of greater interactivity in the creation of progressive selections (Soft Selection). Assign a keyboard shortcut set that Falloff, Pinch and Bubble, puiscliquez on the color gradient: the 3 icons appear in turn. An interesting feature because it allows to quickly and intuitively progressive your selections.

Animation

The small number of developments in this area is focused on Biped. We discovered a new function to facilitate quadrupeds, which allows simply manipulating hands as if they were feet. You can also use a pivot point for the overall biped other than the default (using the working pivot, recently added, is perfectly possible), which makes handling simpler models in animations where the bodies are moved entirely, such falls or dives.
